It sounds so simple, doesn’t it?

Hello you!

Whilst dealing with mental health problems, I think that it is common to focus on what it takes from us. In my case, a lot of my confidence and my ability to take the objectivity that I think is important when dealing with other people and apply that to myself.

But, I think that it is nice to be able to pay attention to the parts of me that are still there. The good things. One of which is empathy and of course, my ability to parallel park like a true G. I think that in this world, it is almost seen as being a bit “weak” to have empathy for others. When truth be told, I think that it shows such strength to be able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, walk in them for a bit and see how they came to whatever conclusion they did.

I think that if people did this, then they would see that mental health is so much more than just feeling a bit off one day. That yes, your train delay due to someone taking their own life will disrupt you, but it will dramatically alter someone’s family, friends and even acquaintances for the worse. It can help to make you a better person and moreover, it helps to make us a better society.

So, please, don’t follow the trend. Being empathetic is timeless.
